Steve Axelrod, Ph.D.

As the firm’s principal, Steve oversees all team engagements. Steve has extensive experience as a consultant on executive talent development and as a trusted adviser and coach for C-suite and senior executives. Steve’s approach focuses on increasing client understanding of how both psychological and organizational forces shape an individual leader’s thinking and role behavior. By working to increase self-awareness, Steve helps clients gain confidence and overcome barriers to leadership growth. He has also used his skills as a psychologist to develop a unique coaching/counseling approach to helping organizations manage “executives behaving badly.”

Dr. Steve Axelrod is recognized as an expert on the powerful influence of a leader’s psychological dynamics on organizational performance. His book, Work and the Evolving Self (1999, Analytic Press), was chosen as a selection by the Behavioral Science Book Club. He wrote Executive Growth Along the Adult Development Curve as a chapter in The Wisdom of Coaching (2007, APA Books), and is the author of an ebook The Essential Core of Executive Coaching. Steve has appeared on radio and has been quoted in Harvard Business Review, The New York Times, and the Financial Times. His articles have been published by Forbes.com, CEO Update, ChiefExecutive.net, the American Psychological Association’s Good Company, and the Association for Corporate Counsel’s Docket.

Steve received his undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania and his Ph.D. in psychology from New York University.

He has a certificate in psychotherapy and psychoanalysis from New York University where he is on the adjunct faculty teaching a course in organizational consultation.

Barbara Nusbaum, Ph.D.

Barbara consults with top level executives and organizations, bringing the invaluable perspective of interpersonal, emotional, and psychological intelligence. It’s often said emotions, relationships and psychology are the soft stuff, but Barbara believes that in the work environment, this domain is actually the hard, and crucial, stuff. Using her extensive psychological background, Dr. Nusbaum coaches executives by helping them develop these competencies as the key to advancement and success. Clients have included Hartford Funds, Genworth, Morgan Stanley, Raymond James, TD Bank, private and public schools, religious

organizations, large social service organizations, media and publishing. She has particular expertise in the fast-growing field of financial/money psychology. Dr. Nusbaum has appeared in the New York Times, US News, CBS News, PBS, Forbes, Money Magazine, Bloomberg, Huffington Post and NY1

Barbara received her undergraduate degree from Williams College and her Ph.D. in psychology from Long Island University.

She is a candidate at the NYU Postdoctoral Program in Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis.

Linda Chuang, M.D.

Linda is currently Chief Executive Manager of a group psychiatric practice and was the Associate Medical Director of a major health center in NY state. In both positions she has led organizational change and solved problems related to organizational and individual performance. Linda combines a keen business acumen with her psychiatric training to guide leaders on their development. She has served as an internal executive coach to senior managers and has counseled them on resolving issues related to unprofessional and problematic behavior. Linda is particularly experienced working with women executives on effective leadership and work-life balance.

Dr. Linda Chuang received her undergraduate degree from Barnard College, Columbia University and her medical degree from Cornell University Medical College. She completed a residency in psychiatry at NYU Medical Center, where she was Chief Resident. She was also awarded the prestigious Laughlin Fellowship from the American College of Psychiatrist, is a designated Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, and is a member of the American College of Physician Executives.

Linda is a respected teacher in the field of psychiatry, having taught + given lectures to physicians, residents, medical students, + the general public at NYU School of Medicine + other healthcare facilities.

 

Andreas Kraebber, M.D.

Dr. Andreas Kraebber is a clinical psychiatrist and psychoanalyst who teaches and supervises psychoanalytic candidates at Columbia’s Psychoanalytic Center. His clinical work focuses on helping professional men and women clarify their personal aspirations and identify the emotions and preconceptions that hold them back. Once an individual is better acquainted with the complexity of their motivations and wishes for themselves, Dr. Kraebber assists his patients in developing a path forward that is aligned with their authentic personal and professional identities.

Dr. Kraebber also works with organizational leaders who seek to cultivate greater emotional, social, and organizational intelligence to enhance the effectiveness of their leadership and problem-solving abilities. As a psychoanalyst, he employs a multimodal approach – one that seeks an understanding of both conscious and unconscious influences as well as emotional and analytical modes of thinking – to foster new insights, innovative thinking, and personal growth.

Dr. Kraebber is knowledgeable about group psychology and is developing methods for sharing group psychology insights with organizational leaders who can elevate their team’s performance as they gain an appreciation for the various psychological dynamics that affect a team’s functioning. To this end, he teaches a seminar on Thinking Organizationally: Applying Psychoanalytic Concepts to Leadership, Groups, and Organizations at Columbia. He is current President of the Association for Psychoanalytic Medicine, and a member of the American Psychoanalytic Association, the American Academy of Psychodynamic Psychiatrists and Psychoanalysts, and the International Society for the Psychoanalytic Study of Organizations.

Andreas received his undergraduate degree from Yale University and his MD from Temple University. He completed his residency and psychoanalytic training at Columbia.

He is a board-certified psychiatrist and psychoanalyst and an Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at Columbia where he is also a Training and Supervising Psychoanalyst.
